National Quincentennial Committee, the clearing house of all government initiatives for the Philippine Quincentennial Commemorations of the first circumnavigation of the world and other related events initiated the Quincentennial Art Competition. It has four (4) categories centering on Legacy, Magnanimity, Sovereignty, and Unity, which the artists must accurately depict the world, society, and customs of the Filipinos almost 500 years ago. The grand winner for each category will take home P500,000; two consolation prize winners per category will receive P50,000. Originally, the deadline for submission of entries was set to August but has been extended until October 30, 2020. Additionally, twenty (20) drop-off points which includes Museo Dabawenyo (as of 24 August 2020) was also added to ease the burden of the participating artists in transporting their artworks.
