“Inawas ng Muna” is a Mandaya term which literally means “Heritage”. It is of iconic significance as it manifests the magnificence of Magbabaya’s creation and the long history of the Mandaya people whose way of life revolves around God, Nature and Man. The ancestral land, beautiful landscapes and the arts engraved in the symbols and designs and all other cultural insignias are the very aspects of the culture that has bonded the Mandaya people over centuries that all aspects are interconnected, that one cannot exist without the other.
Ms. Sharmi Angelique S. Capiña, a member of the Mandaya group and a graduate of Bachelor of Fine Arts Major in Painting at the Philippine Women’s College of Davao City, will showcase her beautiful artworks in an exhibition entitled: “Inawas ng Muna” at the Bahaghari Space of Museo Dabawenyo from August 7 to September 2, 2017.
